With this year’s theme “Camp: Notes on Fashion”, Met Gala once again gave rise to various trends that Hollywood stars flamboyantly sparked.
Stars Who Made Their Marks
Singer Harry Styles wore a black Gucci jumpsuit. It was a gender-fluid creation which made it one of the most-search outfits from the Met Gala.
Cardi B appeared in a burgundy theatrical gown with a fully embroidered circular train and feather adornment. The dress, which took 2,000 hours to make, is a design by Thom Browne.
Lady Gaga, known for her over the top looks, also created a stir online with her four outfits. She arrived donned in a Brandon Maxwell bright pink billowing dress which she then stripped off to unveil her black gown, a slip dress that was also pink, and finally taking the wraps off her luminous bra and panties.
Celine Dion admitted to being initially confused with the theme but came clad in an Oscar de la Renta gown made from 22 pounds of gold. Fifty-two master embroiderers were commissioned to complete the work of art. The dress became the subject for intense discussions on social media.
Katy Perry came as a life-sized chandelier decorated with crystals and electric candles, all designed by Jeremy Scott of Moschino.
Zendaya was dressed in a black Tommy Hilfiger gown. As she walked on the red carpet and with the wave of her stylist’s wand; her dress was transformed into a luminous version identical to Cinderella’s famous ball gown.
Jared Leto showed up holding a mannequin of his head. The look was inspired by last year’s Gucci Fall-Winter fashion show.
Billy Porter’s entered the red carpet wearing a gold bodysuit and coordinating headpiece while being carried by topless men.
Married couple Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra had on complementing Dior outfits. Chopra was dressed in an Haute Couture silver dress that had a feathered rainbow skirt. She completed her look with a spiky crown, while Jonas was in a white suit paired with glittery silver shoes.
